Carving Turkeys in the OR

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

Today was actually a very frustrating day, but there was actually a high point to it.  Debbie, Jackie, and I got to carve a dozen WHOLE turkeys in the OR hallway today.  It was kind of odd having an occasional patient being rolled by, but eventually the OR staff figured it was probably best not to use this hallway during lunchtime.   So, it was quite amuzing to watch the three of us, because I had never carved a turkey and Jackie was trying to save all the extra pieces, like the neck, to go home and making dressing.  A dozen turkeys takes a while to carve.  Debbie and Jackie took a stretch break to keep the muscles from cramping while Marcil brought us more turkeys.  We were so cute.  We each had our red shirt, apron, surgical gloves, and Santa hat on.  Nobody can say Anesthesia ain’t festive!  ;)  Dr. Paulus even got a picture of us before we started our carving.  Too bad, I don’t think anyone got a during picture.  Oh well…That was my entertainment for the day…The rest of it could be thrown out and done over…

Dreams

Monday, November 21st, 2005

So, last night I had a dream that felt so real.  Do you ever have dreams like that, where you wake up and aren’t sure if what happened in  your dream really happened??  It’s very confusing, because a lot of times these dreams involve people and it changes the way you think of them.

Disney Ride-A-Thon

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

On Friday, Katye, Jimmy, and I went to Disney World for the CMN Ride-A-Thon.  It was a lot of fun.  After 8PM, the park closed and only Ride-A-Thon guests could stay and ride as much as they wanted until 11:30PM.  It was great.  I think the longest I waited for any ride was 20 minutes.  :)  Parking was free, they gave us free snacks and drinks and other cool stuff.  And it only cost $20!

So, what are your favorite Disney rides?  I was thinking about that while I was there.  I think my favorite ride might just be the teacups.  Dcp_5944_2You spin and spin and spin until you’re so dizzy you can’t stand up straight.  :)

Of course, I also love the Carousel, Dumbo, and all the Mountain rides (Splash, Thunder, and Space).

I love being a kid.  I wish we could just act like kids forever.  Well, if I turn out anything like my mother, I will act like a kid forever.  ;)

Hello Dolly

Friday, November 11th, 2005

Tonight Kayla and I went to see "Hello Dolly" at the Constans Theatre.  I thouroughly enjoyed myself.  Besides being a good show, the guy next to us provided some entertainment, atleast for me.  Poor Kayla had to sit next to him and smell his stanky breath and deal with his convulsive laughter.  My program and some Altoid gum was all she had to protect herself.  The musical was awesome.  Jennifer Anderson, who played Dolly was absolutely superb.  She was hilarious.  I believe she had to have been doing a bit of ad-libbing.  Oh, and there was a live orchestra.  I believe if i were in an orchestra, I’d like to play the xylophone.  :)

Bye Bye Wisdom Teeth/Hello Computer

Sunday, November 6th, 2005

Wisdom_teethOn Friday, November 4th, I lost my wisdom.  :(  It’s a sad thing really.  Actually, getting my wisdom teeth out was not as bad as I would have imagined.  Yes, you are swollen and in pain for at least 3 days after (I’m only at the 3rd day, so I can’t tell you for how long it hurts), but the procedure itself is nothing.  I woke up during the procedure and couldn’t feel a thing.  Actually, I think they woke me up because I wasn’t really breathing right.  Anyway, I’m alive.  I just look like a chipmunk.  Hopefully, I’ll be back to normal by tomorrow or Tuesday.  :)

On a brighter note, I bought a new computer!!!  :)  It’s a Dell Dimension 9100.  The most exciting part is that I’m getting a flat screen monitor.  Yeah me!  Dad has agreed to buy my old one for the very reasonable price of $20.  Hey, anyone know someone who needs a new harddrive??  I’ve got a really nice, hardly used one…I know you want it…

Alrighty, back to icing my face. :)
